Lesson 121: Northup, Part 6
Reading assignment: Chapters 9, 10
There is an error in the video. In one sentence, I read from the text: “have drank.” I was reading from a text that had been OCRed from the original book, then corrected. The text in the original said “drunk.” The copy said “drank.” I read it just as it was transcribed. But I concluded after I read it that the editor would not have made that mistake. Was it a typesetter’s error? There is a copy of the original edition online at Archive.org. I checked. It said “drunk.” So, the original edition was correct. The digital transcript was incorrect. I had my typesetter make this correction in the text of the edition which I edited. But I did not go back to re-record the screencast. Why not? Because somehow I had erased the copy of the screencast’s script — the only time in over 300 screencasts that I have done this (I hope).
