Lesson 176: Your Autobiography, Part 1
No reading assignment
First, watch the screencast.
Second, here is your writing assignment.
Writing assignment.
Identify four events in your life that would just have to be in your autobiography so far. Then apply the five W’s to each of them: what, where, when, who, and why. Then add this: how?
Spend 5 minutes per event.
Keep these pages separate.
Begin taking notes immediately. If you use Evernote for your notes, fine. But the best computer program for note-taking and writing is Scrivener. The designer of Scrivener has described its benefits here.
Scrivener video tutorials are here. There are lots more here.
Assume that it will take you three hours to begin to use the program. This investment of time will pay off in other Ron Paul Curriculum courses. It will pay off most in your last two years in college and especially graduate school, if you go to graduate school. My recommendation: quiz out of your first two years by using AP and CLEP exams.
In the 11th grade, you will be assigned major term papers: at least 12 pages long. At that time, if you do not have real mastery of Scrivener, you will be at a disadvantage. Your work will be much more difficult. Make things easier for yourself. Lean this program now. Start this week — or next week, at the latest.
