For your story presentation this week, you need to learn how to add different voices and personalities to characters.
The Tortoise and the Hare is a classic Aesop’s Fable. But I bet you’ve never heard it told quite like this. Take a listen to Jim Weiss, a master storyteller, as he tells the story in a way that anyone can enjoy.
Assignment:
While I don’t expect you to develop perfect characters like Jim Weiss has, you should be able to come up with variety for the different people in your stories. Try choosing different pitches or speeds for your characters. Practice your story all the way through making sure you keep each of the characters’ voices going through the whole speech.
Finally, I forgot to mention in the video that it is important that all your voices be very clearly audible. Don’t make a voice so quiet, so fast, or some other variation, that your audience actually has trouble understanding what is being said. This defeats the purpose of adding multiple voices to the speech.
