After your first speech project from last week, you should be feeling a great sense of accomplishment. Many people go their whole lives without practicing or developing public speaking skills.
This week will begin the process of refining your speeches into polished presentations. The first step in that process is organizing your speech well.
Assignment:
Make a mind map for your next speech. Remember you can choose any title or topic that you would like. If you need help choosing a topic, here a few ideas:
1. What does your average school day include?
2. What sort of field trips do you go on?
3. What do you like to do in your free time?
Once you have finished the mind map to your speech, put the points into an outline from which you can write out your speech tomorrow. This mind map and outline process is incredibly important practice for organizing your thoughts into effective material for any speech or writing assignment.
