Description
This course resumes a study of the history of inventions, starting around 1800 AD where 4th Grade History leaves off. It proceeds in chronological order up to the modern day, and it helps develop a sense of how inventions influenced history.
Each lesson examines one invention or an inventor, if this information is known. It explores what the world looked like before the invention came along, how it was discovered, how it was marketed (why it caught on), and what its impact on history was.
Beginning around 1800 AD, the economic growth rate of Western Civilization increased, and the world began undergoing a rapid transformation. While the world changed very little from the days of the Roman Empire to around 1800 AD, the rapid increase in technology and innovation after 1800 has resulted in an unprecedented and spectacular transformation — all in just the last 200 years.
Without the creativity of inventors and the explosive growth in inventions in the 19th century and onward, this would have been impossible. Where the 4th grade history course examined approximately 140 inventions over a period of approximately 4,000 years, this course will examine the same number over a period of just a little more than 200 years.
Like in 4th Grade History, the course combines history and science to explore how inventions helped changed the world.
This course has 180 lessons.
