Description
This course trains students in the crucial art of taking action. Beginning with Food Science & Chef School and moving through Art School and Filmmaking, students learn to start and do things.
Students also learn the basics of food preparation, sketching and painting, portraying a character, directing a play, and film production. Students are pushed beyond their comfort zones.
This course blends lectures and videos (passive learning) with hands-on projects (active learning) such as baking a French baguette and filming a documentary.
Most people are afraid to take risks. They do not want to fail. Consequently, life enhancing experiences are left untried. Successful people are constantly pushing themselves out of their comfort zones. They do not worry about failing or embarrassment.
Successful people view failure, awkwardness and adversity as opportunities to grow. They fail quickly to discover what is possible and impossible. They put new ideas to the test – quickly – to find out what works.
This course also builds marketable skills. Storytelling and video production skills are valuable to businesses and entrepreneurs. Sketching and drawing improves communication and brings life to ideas.
The concepts and skills in this course will open up a wide field of vision ten to fifteen years before most students. The diverse learning experiences will build a foundation for a future of divergent thinking.
